Quick start
How to set up IPTV on Windows with ChannelSurf
- Download and install the signed Windows edition from ChannelSurf’s official download section.
- Open ChannelSurf and choose Set up ChannelSurf or Add profile.
- Name the local profile, then choose the connection format supplied by your provider: Xtream Codes, M3U URL, or Stalker / MAG.
- Enter only the server details or playlist address issued to you. For an M3U profile, you can also add an optional XMLTV guide URL.
- Connect and let ChannelSurf load the live lineup first. Large movie and series libraries continue loading in the background.
- If you use another service, open the profile or Settings, choose Add provider, select its color, and enter that service’s login for this PC.
Keep provider credentials private. Never post a playlist URL, username, password, portal MAC address, pairing code, or diagnostic bundle in a public forum.
Which login format should you choose?
Use the format your provider gave you. Xtream Codes usually comes as a server address, username, and password. M3U comes as one long playlist URL and sometimes a separate XMLTV URL. Stalker/MAG uses a portal URL and a MAC address authorized by the portal.
Converting one format through an unknown website can expose embedded credentials. If you have a choice, ask your provider for the original connection details and enter them directly in ChannelSurf.
Why the Windows app can act as a home host
The desktop edition can maintain the upstream provider connection and serve synchronized playback to admitted ChannelSurf devices on your network. That enables in-home Follow mode without requiring every screen to open a separate upstream connection. Premium builds on the same host with DVR, Mirror, internet Watch Party hosting, and Watch from Anywhere.
Host performance still depends on the source stream, network quality, available upload bandwidth, and whether the stream can be remuxed or must be transcoded.
Common questions
Does ChannelSurf supply IPTV channels?
No. ChannelSurf is player software only. It does not provide, sell, index, recommend, or host channels or media.
Can I use an M3U playlist on Windows?
Yes. Choose M3U URL while connecting a profile. You can supply a separate XMLTV guide URL or let ChannelSurf read the playlist’s own url-tvg value when present.
Can I combine multiple IPTV providers?
Yes. A profile can combine Xtream, M3U and Stalker services in one catalog. Subtle colors distinguish their content, including cross-provider PiP and Multiview. Provider credentials remain local to this Windows device.
Is the Windows IPTV player really free?
Yes. Core viewing, the guide, catch-up, movies and series, local profiles, Multiview, two-stream Picture in Picture, Watch Party joining and other viewing basics are free. Premium adds connected hosting, Cloud Sync, DVR and remote-access features.
What if a stream will not play?
First try another channel to separate a single-source problem from an account or player problem. Then verify the account is active, the provider permits another connection, and the stream works on the same network. ChannelSurf can recover or fall back for many media errors, but it cannot repair a missing or offline provider stream.
